The success of the SSE Hydro in Glasgow has been accountable for an increase in demand for Glasgow’s hotels. November 2013 has seen record occupancy for hotels, travel lodges and guest houses in the area, with the city been fully booked on many occasions. It’s the highest reported occupancy levels since records began in 1999.
This is great news for the area and will have a great knock on effect for the local economic climate. It’s been reported in The Scotland on Sunday that high profile gigs by the likes of The Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend and Simple Minds have greatly helped.
With a pretty full calendar already taking shape for 2014, here’s hoping this will continue to give the area and people a further economic boost. There are some big shows from Miranda Hart, Katy Perry, Michael Buble and Justin Timberlake through to April and May which are guaranteed to be big draws.
