The Gods of Rap tour is landing in Glasgow with a 12 May 2019 show at the SSE Hydro with legendary hip-hop acts Public Enemy, De La Soul and Wu Tang Clan representing.
With ‘It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back’, Public Enemy, fronted by Chuck D and Flava Flav , released one of the most influential hip hop albums ever. They’ve continued to be statesmen for the scene and will be dropping plenty of their political themed tunes on the night.
Wu Tang Clan delivered in their ‘36 Chambers‘ album a set of uncompromising material, blending out there beats with thoughtful lyrical play and launched the careers of members as diverse as Methodman, Raekwon, Redman, Ol Dirty Bastard (now sadly deceased), Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck and RZA.
De La Soul hit the charts with their ‘Three Feet High and Rising Album‘ and hits like ‘Me, Myself and I‘ and ‘The Magic Number‘. Following it up with the equally classic ‘De La Soul Is Dead‘ they’ve been pushing out quality hip-hop ever since and are a welcome addition to this bill.
